Summer is for dusting off the history knowledge and diving into the world of Vikings and jesters.

First stop: Tuna Ting* Borlänge, an annual market held at the Gammelgården and organised by Södra Dalarnas Medeltidsförening.
The jugglers were amusing to watch. They made jokes that even I could understand 🙂
I wish the light was a bit softer for my pictures, but it was high summer and the light relentless.

There were also storytellers and fights between knights, a woman making some kind of leather from fish skin, and lots of stalls with handmade products. Kids could paint shields and be knighted.

*(Stora) Tuna= a historical parish in Dalarna, and since 1971 part of Borlänge kommun.
Ting= a traditional governing assembly, court, and political gathering used in ancient, Viking, and medieval Sweden.

Second stop: Avesta.

We had a delicious (vegetarian) lunch at a farm nearby + I got some sheep wool to take home 🙂
