Autumn magic

Ok, I have to admit that I wasn’t particularly pleased with that clock change – I’m still pretending it didn’t happen- but amai these autumn days make me so happy.
From misty morning to rainy dog walks, I’m all in!
I’m not sure how I went decades without an umbrella, but it’s been great for my mood! I’m feeling cozy under my big umbrella, and my glasses stay dry. Double win. We’re obviously lucky that we don’t have a crazy amount of wind.
We did have one big storm. Even the giant birch tree in our garden had to fight the strong pulls of wind.
The flower bed at the studio looks a bit sad now, but the birds are loving it! And that’s great. I built it especially to attract more insects and birds instead of having boring grass that does nothing for wildlife.

Autumn is the time when I keep looking down at all the small details in all the beautiful colours. Bits of the first frost, tiny fungi, spider webs, … The dogs are probably wondering what I’m suddenly doing on the forest floor, but they are patient and stay around. There is always enough for them to sniff!
They have found several … let’s say… items of interest, but I’m not going to share those pictures.

A few weeks ago, we went on a road trip, just for the day. We visited some castles, took a yellow ferry, and had a spicy Thai take-out (soo good!). One thing that amazes me every time is how driving just a bit south can feel like time travel. Suddenly, we spotted green trees again while all the trees in our area had turned yellow. Also, there is suddenly so much more variety in plants. We live just a bit too north to have beech trees, for example. Also, no walnuts or edible chestnuts.

I always look forward to that time when golden leaves dance around on the streets, and warm light bounces into our home. It’s such a short period, but it feels special.

During one of our walks, I found hair. Moose hair, probably.
I washed it, and I’m thinking of attempting to turn it into a paintbrush.

Kicking off the dark season with a mesmerizing light show!

Also, our first time trying to capture the Milky Way. The night sky was so incredibly clear that once we knew what to look for, it was impossible to miss. Still hard to capture, but I’m glad with the result.
