Swedish vegan fika break cookies, blog on www.Fenne.be

Here in Sweden, the fika-break almost seems like a holy moment of the day
where people stop working, make some coffee (or tea) and have something sweet with it- mostly cinnamon buns I would say. We sometimes laugh about the fika being everywhere almost like the foundation of a typical Swedish day on which you built both projects and friendships. For us, foreigners with a constant not-enough-time-feeling and the guilt that might come with taking too many breaks, it can feel strange at first to make time for fika, but when you live in Sweden, there is no escape to this delicious habit 🙂
And what’s better than a house that smells like fresh baked cookies?

The 5 Ingredients of these vegan fika cookies:

1. Almond Flour
2. Baking Powder
3. Maple Syrup
4. Vanilla Extract
5. Extra almonds (as decoration)

How to make them:
  • 2 cups  finely ground almond flour (227 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/3 cup dark maple syrup (100 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Bake about 12 minutes until they look golden, invite some friends and make some coffee or tea 🙂
Happy fika!
